  • Can be fed preventatively in younger joints
  • Provides essential raw materials for joint repair
  • Backed by published scientific literature
  • Proven results in veterinary practice
  • Improves the quality of your horse's life
  • Cost-effective natural treatments
  • Free of side effects even at very high dose rates

Daily Dosage:

2mg per kg as a prevention dose (no symptoms present)
6-10mg per kg for early-stage joint wear and tear manifest by stiffness
20mg per kg as a treatment dose
A 14-day loading double dose is recommended.
A flat scoop is 1g. A heaped scoop is 2g.

For example (and converting to grams, for convenience):
400kg horse: 0.8g prevention dose; 4g early-stage stiffness; 8g subtle-lameness dose
500kg horse: 1g prevention dose; 5g early-stage stiffness; 10g subtle-lameness dose
600kg horse: 1.2g prevention dose; 6g early-stage stiffness; 12g subtle-lameness dose

In most cases with active arthritis, symptom reduction will be seen after 14 days. If symptom reduction is not apparent by 6-8 weeks, further administration of Joint Rejuvenate is unlikely to result in improvement.

How to Administer:

If your horse is a fussy eater, Joint Rejuvenate can be mixed with a handful of your horse’s favourite feed which is then mixed through the rest of the feed. If necessary, moisten with water, or even molasses. However, because Joint Rejuvenate is fed in such small amounts, most horses accept it readily.

Scientific Research

Joint Rejuvenate for Horses and Green-Lipped Mussel

The one and only horse study (to our knowledge) that has been published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal is Cayzer et al (2011) A randomised, double-blinded, placebo-controlled study on the efficacy of a unique extract of green-lipped mussel (Perna canaliculus) in horses with chronic fetlock lameness attributed to osteoarthritis. This study used the high quality, highly bioactive and efficacious Biolane brand of green-lipped mussel powder. Although Joint Rejuvenate uses the Bioacteev brand of green-lipped mussel powder, we are suggesting this publication should be read by the scientifically oriented reader because it is the only scientific publication, to date, on the efficacy of green-lipped mussel in horses anywhere in the world.

For those of you interested in science but without the time to devote to digesting the publication, what follows is a summary. In 2012 the results of a four-year Massey University New Zealand study involving 26 horses was published in the Equine Veterinary Journal. The study showed that when horses with fetlock arthritis were treated with 25mg/kg per day of the Biolane brand of green-lipped mussel, at the end of 56 days the horses showed significant reduction in severity of lameness, improved response to a joint flexion test and reduced joint pain. The Equine Veterinary Journal is arguably the premier horse veterinary research publication in the world. This research was reviewed critically by leading veterinary experts before being published in this journal.

The research using Biolane’s green-lipped mussel has attracted significant interest from horse experts in the USA, Britain, and Europe. As a result of this equine veterinary journal publication, leading trainers of racehorses, pacers, trotters, show jumpers and eventers ‒ and their veterinary advisers ‒ are looking more closely at incorporating green-lipped mussel powder into their feeding and medication programs.

For an excellent overview of green-lipped mussel powder and its use with horses, we suggest the 2020 webinar Benefits of New Zealand Mussels by Dr Jyme Nichols of Stride Animal Health in the USA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Geh8JVn3-Bo

  1. Katherine

I have a horse who has had stomach ulcers in the past. My vet has told me to avoid feeding phenylbutazone ( Bute) as an anti inflammatory and to feed only Joint rejuvenate at the maximum dose rate.

  2. Hamish Stewart

"Joint Rejuvenate" has a place in your horse feeding regime if you want wear and tear on joints minimised. Works best when fed in conjunction with pentosan polysulphate injections ( Cartrophen, Pentosan, Arthropen are some of the trade names) . Joint Rejuvenate is a powder to be added to your feed. The makers offer a free 15 minute consultation with a vet ( value approx $90) . Call +61 425310625

  3. Troy Love

Best value for money joint supplement in Australia . Sue Stewart is a decent honest person who is efficient . Orders are sent priority paid if you order via online shop. Through your vet clinic is another option , but your vet clinic may need to order it in for you

This is a very well-researched product. Rather than something to merely treat symptoms ... its focus is on the repair of your animal's joints. A worthy goal!

Scientific Research

The one and only horse study that has been published in a peer reviewed scientific journal used the high quality, highly bioactive and efficacious Biolane brand of green lipped mussel powder.

We are suggesting this publication should be read by the scientifically oriented reader because it is the one and only scientific publication on the efficacy of green lipped mussel in horses anywhere in the world, (not because Joint Rejuvenate uses the Biolane brand of green lipped mussel). "Healtheries" who produce the Biolane brand of green lipped mussel are quite understandably wanting the reader to understand the research was done on their high quality brand of green lipped mussel powder. There are many green lipped mussel products being marketed for horses, dogs and people. The bioactivity and thus efficacy of green lipped mussel powders vary. It is a biological truism that heat damages the active constituents of many naturally occurring products, including green lipped mussel. Not every green lipped mussel product is assayed for its anti inflammatory activity so it is difficult for the consumer to know the quality of the green lipped mussel powder they are buying. It should not be assumed that other brands of green lipped mussel powder are going to have the same degree of efficacy as the Biolane Brand of green lipped mussel powder.

The publication "Cayzer J, Hedderley D, and Gray S. Equine Vet J. 2012 Jul;44(4):393-8. doi: 10.1111 /j.2042-3306.2011.00455.x. Epub 2011 Sep 1. "A randomised, double-blinded, placebo-controlled study on the efficacy of a unique extract of green-lipped mussel (Perna canaliculus) in horses with chronic fetlock lameness attributed to osteoarthritis." used the Biolane brand of Green Lipped mussel.

In 2012 the results of a 4 year Massey University New Zealand study was published in the Equine Veterinary Journal. This study used the Biolane brand of Green lipped mussel produced by New Zealand company "Healtheries". The study showed that when horses with fetlock arthritis were treated with 25mg/kg of the Biolane brand of green-lipped mussel their level of lameness decreased. Please note that Joint Rejuvenate for Horses does not use the Biolane brand of Green-lipped Mussel. We are quoting the above study because it is the one and only research study on horses that have been published in a scientific journal. The Equine Veterinary Journal is arguably the premier horse veterinary research publication in the world. This research was reviewed critically by leading veterinary experts before being published in this journal. This research on green-lipped mussel (using the Biolane brand) has attracted significant interest from horse experts in the USA, Britain, and Europe.

As a result of this equine veterinary journal publication leading trainers of racehorses, pacers, trotters, show jumpers, and eventers and their veterinary advisers are looking more closely at incorporating green lipped mussel powder into their feeding and medication program.

Green-lipped mussel is a source of the highly absorbable phospholipid-bound form of omega 3 fatty acids. It also is a source of raw materials that help the injured joint repair at a microscopic level.

What our customers say...

Better movement after being warmed up
We bought Joint Rejuvenate for our 8-year- old quarter horse, Garfield, because he had very stiff and clicky joints. After using the product for two weeks we are very pleased to say he is getting along so much better! He is happy to move along, stretch out, take both left and ride canter leads and his joints are not clicking! Since starting on Joint Rejuvenate, we traveled interstate to Queensland where Garfield and Stephen qualified for the (name of event) final! Never would we have expected his performance to be of such a high quality until starting on this product!
